Sanjukta Parashar, a 2006-batch IPS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre known as the "Iron Lady of Assam" for her anti-insurgency record, has been appointed the first woman Inspector General to head CRPF's CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) — the specialised jungle-warfare unit raised in 2008-09 to combat Left-Wing Extremism and insurgency.
