Chhari-Dhand, which was added to India’s Ramsar sites list in 2026, is located in which region ?

Chhari-Dhand is a seasonal brackish wetland in the Kutch district of Gujarat, near the Banni grasslands, and it was declared a Ramsar site on 31 January 2026. Patna Bird Sanctuary in Etah, Uttar Pradesh, was added with it, taking India's tally of Ramsar sites to 98. Chhari-Dhand is the first Ramsar site of Kutch, and this conservation reserve is known for migratory birds such as flamingos and cranes. Sirpur Lake in Indore and Sur Sarovar in Agra were already Ramsar sites but they are not Chhari-Dhand, and Ratnagiri has no such site. The Ramsar Convention was signed in 1971 in the Iranian city of Ramsar.
