Which is the highest peak in the Western Ghats?

Answer View answer ▾

Answer: Option A — Anamudi

Detailed Solution

Anamudi is the highest peak of the Western Ghats and of all South India, so the answer is (A). It rises to about 2,695 metres and lies in the Anamalai Hills inside Eravikulam National Park in Idukki district, Kerala, which is famous for the Nilgiri tahr. 'Meesapulimala', at about 2,640 metres, is the second highest peak of the Western Ghats, which makes it the main trap. 'Masinagudi' is a village near Mudumalai in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu, not a peak. 'Vagamon' is a hill station in Kerala. The highest peak of the Nilgiri Hills is Doddabetta, about 2,637 metres, often asked in exams.
