Sentence-based questions test how well you understand the structure and logic of English sentences. This topic covers sentence completion (choosing the word or phrase that best fills a blank), identifying correct and incorrect sentences, rearranging jumbled parts into a meaningful sentence, and recognising types of sentences such as simple, compound and complex sentences. To complete a sentence, read it fully first and look for clue words such as "although", "because" and "however", which signal contrast or cause. For jumbled sentences, find the subject and the main verb, then link the remaining parts. Grammar rules on subject-verb agreement, tenses and prepositions apply across all of these question types, so strong grammar basics help everywhere. Practise the sentence questions below. Each solution explains the correct answer and the grammar rule behind it.
