Answer: Option B — Sharad Pawar

Detailed Solution

"On My Terms: From the Grassroots to the Corridors of Power" is the autobiography of the Maharashtra politician Sharad Pawar, published in December 2015 to mark his 75th birthday.

About the book:

  • It describes his early life in Baramati, Pune district, his entry into politics through the Youth Congress, and his long political career.
  • It covers his terms as Chief Minister of Maharashtra, his work as Union Defence Minister during the 1993 Mumbai blasts, and his time as Union Agriculture Minister.
  • It also discusses his differences with the Congress leadership, which led him to form his own party.

About Sharad Pawar:

  • He was born on 12 December 1940 in Baramati, Maharashtra.
  • He became Chief Minister of Maharashtra four times, first in 1978 at the age of 38, then one of the youngest Chief Ministers.
  • He was Union Defence Minister (1991-1993) and Union Minister of Agriculture (2004-2014).

In 1999, he left the Congress, along with P. A. Sangma and Tariq Anwar, after raising the issue of Sonia Gandhi's foreign origin, and founded the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

He was President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from 2005 to 2008 and President of the International Cricket Council (ICC) from 2010 to 2012.

He received the Padma Vibhushan in 2017.

In 2023, the NCP split, and the Election Commission recognised the faction led by his nephew Ajit Pawar as the official NCP; Sharad Pawar's faction became "NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar)".

Autobiographies of other politicians:

  • Pranab Mukherjee: "The Dramatic Decade", "The Turbulent Years", "The Coalition Years".
  • K. Advani: "My Country My Life".
  • Natwar Singh: "One Life Is Not Enough".
