Answer View answer ▾

Answer: Option B — Yuvraj Singh

Detailed Solution

"The Test of My Life: From Cricket to Cancer and Back" is the autobiography of the Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, published in 2013.

About the book:

  • It describes how Yuvraj played the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup while suffering from health problems, including coughing up blood, without knowing that he had cancer.
  • He was named Player of the Tournament in that World Cup, which India won.

Soon after, he was diagnosed with a rare germ cell tumour (mediastinal seminoma) between his lungs. He underwent chemotherapy in Boston, USA, in early 2012.

The book describes his fight against cancer, his emotions, the support of his mother, Shabnam Singh, and his return to international cricket in September 2012.

It is an inspiring story of courage and determination.

About Yuvraj Singh:

He was born on 12 December 1981 in Chandigarh. His father, Yograj Singh, also played cricket for India.

He played a key role in India's 2007 ICC World Twenty20 win, during which he hit six sixes in an over off England's Stuart Broad and scored a 12-ball fifty.

He played 304 ODIs and 40 Tests for India.

He received the Arjuna Award (2012) and the Padma Shri (2014).

He set up the "YouWeCan" Foundation to support cancer patients and cancer awareness.

He retired from international cricket in June 2019.

Autobiographies of other Indian cricketers:

  • Sachin Tendulkar: "Playing It My Way" (2014).
  • Sourav Ganguly: "A Century Is Not Enough" (2018).
  • V. S. Laxman: "281 and Beyond" (2018).

Why not the other options?
