Given below are two statements, one is labelled as Assertion (A) and other one labelled as Reason (R).Assertion (A):Lawyers trained in other jurisdictions will have to requalify to practice in foreign jurisdictions.Reason (R):Countries have different legal systems and laws are framed according to the social, political, and civil conditions of the country. In light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below.

Answer View answer ▾

Answer: Option A — Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A).

Detailed Solution

A lawyer qualified in one country must normally pass the other country's qualification (e.g. the QLTS/SQE in England or the Bar Council of India rules) before practising there, so (A) is true.

The reason is that each country's laws differ with its own social, political and civil conditions, so (R) is true and directly explains (A).

Quick tip

Ask 'A because R?': if the sentence reads naturally, R explains A.
