Answer: Option A — Rajasthan
Detailed Solution
The Nahargarh Fort stands on the edge of the Aravalli hills overlooking the city of Jaipur, Rajasthan.
About the Nahargarh Fort:
It was built in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur, as a retreat and to defend the city.
Its original name was "Sudarshangarh". It came to be called "Nahargarh" ("abode of tigers"), possibly after Nahar Singh Bhomia, a prince whose spirit, according to legend, haunted the site and disturbed the construction until a shrine was built for him.
Along with the Amer Fort and the Jaigarh Fort, it formed a strong ring of defence for the city.
The fort was never attacked, but it saw some important events. During the Revolt of 1857, the Europeans of the area, including the British Resident's wife, were moved to Nahargarh for their safety by the Jaipur Maharaja.
Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II extended the fort in 1868.
Madhavendra Bhawan: built by Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II in the late 19th century, it has nine identical suites for his nine queens, connected by corridors to the king's suite.
It offers a spectacular view of Jaipur city, especially at sunset.
It has appeared in films such as "Rang De Basanti" (2006) and "Jodhaa Akbar".
