Answer: Option A — 1

Detailed Solution

1

W raised an alarm and got no help, so public authorities could not be approached.

2

She faced an armed robber at knife point during a struggle, a threat to her life and not only to her valuables, so killing him was not more harm than necessary.

3

She can claim private defence (statement 1). Statement 2 is also true, but no option offers it, so (A) '1' is the best choice.

⚠ Common trap

(B) 3 treats the attack as a threat to property only; the knife made it a threat to her life.

⚠ Common trap

(D) 4 blames the victim; coming home late is lawful and gives the robber no right to attack.

Quick tip

Armed attack + no help available = private defence extends even to causing death.
