Answer: Option B — Hyderabad Information Technology and Engineering Consultancy
Detailed Solution
HITEC stands for "Hyderabad Information Technology and Engineering Consultancy", as in "HITEC City", the IT hub of Hyderabad, Telangana.
About HITEC City:
It is located in Madhapur, in the western part of Hyderabad.
It was developed in the late 1990s by the Government of Andhra Pradesh (then led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu), in partnership with Larsen and Toubro (L&T), as a public-private partnership.
Its landmark building, "Cyber Towers", was inaugurated by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on 22 November 1998.
It spreads over about 200 acres and has offices of major Indian and global technology companies.
The area around HITEC City, including Madhapur, Gachibowli, Kondapur and the Financial District, is often called "Cyberabad".
It played a big role in making Hyderabad one of India's leading IT and business process outsourcing centres.
Important institutions and companies in Hyderabad:
- Microsoft's largest development centre outside the USA, Google, Amazon (one of its largest campuses in the world), Apple, Meta and Deloitte.
- Indian School of Business (ISB), International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad, and the University of Hyderabad.

- ✗"Hyderabad Integrated Technology Enterprise Campus" is not the correct expansion.
Quick tip
Remember: HITEC = Hyderabad Information Technology and Engineering Consultancy (HITEC City, Madhapur; Cyber Towers inaugurated 1998 by Vajpayee; "Cyberabad"); Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram = India's first technology park (1990).
